Overview

Situated around three hours from Ho Chi Minh City, the Coco Riverside Lodge offers an inclusive package covering some outdoor activities which allow guests to explore the peaceful countryside of the Mekong Delta. One of the clear gifts of the lodge is its location: surrounded by lush jungle in a lovely area of the Mekong, far from hordes of tourists, not to forget that the terrace view of the river is dazzling. Cycling through the narrow village paths, talking with local people, spending a memorable night in a private riverside bungalow lodge will surely be the highlights of your trip.

DAY 1 HO CHI MINH CITY-VUNG LIEM

This morning we will depart from Ho Chi Minh City for a three-hour drive towards Vung Liem, a remote town of the Mekong Delta, exchanging city scenes for lush rice paddies and fruit farms.
Upon arrival, you will be warmly greeted by the hosts, enjoy a welcome drink and check into your private rustic bungalow. The bungalows are simple and welcoming, the thatched roofs conforming with the surrounding greenery. A large terraced area wraps around each bungalow, contributing a shady place to unwind or enjoy a private dinner looking out across the river. All materials used in the construction of the lodge are native to the Mekong Delta.

After lunch with traditional specialties of the Mekong Delta, hop on a bicycle for a relaxing journey through the tranquil country paths, passing by a duck farm, dragon fruit gardens, a coconut fabric factory and rice paddy fields. Stop on the way at a dragon fruit plantation and have a chat with the local farmer to understand his daily farming work. This is a relaxing time with plenty of chances to capture picturesque sunset views.
Enjoy the beautiful sunset before returning to the lodge so you can sit back and unwind by the riverside.

This evening, help your host prepare an authentic home-style dinner. The last activity of the day is a short walk with locals using traditional torches made of dried coconut leaves to neighboring homes and enjoying "poon" lights with a traditional musical performance by a war veteran artist.

DAY 2 VUNG LIEM- HO CHI MINH CITY

After a simple breakfast well-prepared by your host, embark on a private boat for cruising through the nearby placid canal. Visit a local market to witness how Mekong residents exchange goods.

Wind your way to a Cao Dai temple for a short brief on the Cao Dai religion, a fusion of elements from Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism, with some aspects of Christianity and Islam. Afterwards, continue cruising to a local coconut workshop where almost every part of the coconut is used for crafts. Return to your lodge and you are free at leisure until check-out. Bid your hosts farewell and transfer to Ho Chi Minh City by private vehicle.
